Parish Council Minutes September 2007

Notes on 25 September Meeting of Biddestone & Slaughterford Parish Council.

The next Parish Council meeting will take place on Tuesday 23 October and the Open meeting will be held on the following Tuesday, 30 October at 7.30 in the Village Hall. It is hoped that a large number of residents will attend the open meeting to hear a presentation by Mr. Tim Gregory of Wiltshire County Council on the changes to be expected following the announcement of a Unitary Authority for Wiltshire.

A meeting was held in September with NWDC to discuss the work required to bring the public toilets up to standard before the proposed takeover by the Parish Council. The desirable work would be extensive and NWDC are considering our proposals.

A letter has been sent to WCC and Wiltshire Constabulary expressing grave concern following the latest fatal accident at the Yatton Lane/ A420 crossroads and suggesting further measures to improve safety.

The Smoking Tent at the White Horse has been removed.

The following Planning Applications have been approved:

The Sawmills- Renewal of permission for Industrial Units.

Home Farm- Tree Surgery

Glebe Cottage- Carport.

No objections were raised to the following applications:

4 Slaughterford Road- Amended Plans for garage and log store

7 The Green- Tree Surgery

10 Cuttle Lane- Fell one tree.

The Appeal against the refusal of the application to block up an entrance and create a new one at Mountjoy Farm has been allowed.

The Parish Plan draft will be available shortly.

Concerns were raised over the proposal to convert the status of bridleways BR26 and 27 in Hartham Woods to a Byway open to all traffic. A letter has been sent expressing our views.
