Whats On

Box Gardening Club is a village-based group for anyone with an interest in gardens or gardening. It meets once a month, (usually the second Friday), and offers a wide range of talks and demonstrations covering all aspects of gardening. We aim to inform and entertain, appealing to both the expert gardener and those who simply enjoy gardens, whether they have one of their own or not. As well as our regular meetings we stage an annual Flower and Produce Show, attracting a wide range of entries - both organic and craft - of a high standard and are proud that this has become one of the major events in the life of the Village of Box. We also arrange outings to places of interest, (often gardens), and have for the last 5 years organised annual weekend trips both to the Continent and within the UK.

Our ethos is very much founded on the principle of enjoyment. You do not need to know the latin names of plants to be a member - we welcome anyone with an interest in gardening, from knowledgeable horticulturalists to absolute beginners. We also believe in making the club environment a friendly, sociable one where we meet as friends as well as club members. Our age range is broad, and we try to make everyone feel welcome and at home amongst us.

We meet in the Selwyn Hall in Box Village, generally at 7.30pm on the second Friday of each month, although this can vary occasionally. We charge an annual membership fee of £7.50 but thereafter make no charge for meetings. Visitors are asked to make a donation of £1 per meeting. Anyone is welcome to join us, whether a member or not. For further information phone the Chairman, (contact details below), and ask for a copy of our programme, or watch out for details of meetings in the Box Parish Magazine.
