THE PURPOSE. To provide to all retired Civil Servants fellowship, friendship a kindly ear, help and advice, a regular meeting place to meet, discussion over tea and biscuits and take part in and listen to Talks on a wide variety of topical, advisory and interesting subjects. (For Local Contact see below)

THE FORMATION AND STRUCTURE. Formed by far-sighted Senior Civil Servants in 1964 as a Charity and supported by the Government of the day, this was seen as providing that little bit more than just a pension and isolation from life long career friends. Branches were set up as centres for administration all over the Country with semi autonomous Groups under each, run by elected members, answerable through the Branch Committee to HQ CSRF, London. The North Wilts Branch No.71 had 9 groups, one of which is the Malmesbury Group.

WHERE DO WE MEET AND WHAT DO WE DO? We meet at Glovers Court, West Street, Malmesbury on the first Thursday of each month excluding January, July and August, at 2.00pm. The general business of the meeting takes about 15 minutes and this is followed by a Talk given by either a Visiting Speaker or a member of the Group. Tea and biscuits are served at 3.15 pm during which a raffle is held and the members have an opportunity to catch up with personal news. The meeting is closed at 3.45 pm. Our AGM is in March and this is preceded by a bring and share Buffet Lunch. We have an outing in July for a "Cream tea". At the December meeting, young Musicians from Malmesbury School come and try out their Christmas Concert numbers on us and round off with carols, mince pies and soft drinks. The week after, to round off the year, we have a Christmas Lunch at a local eaterie.
