PEMBROKE GREEN, LEA IN THE SPRING.

BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION - 2009.

The Parish Council's entry in this year's Best Kept Village Competition was judged against the villages of Biddestone, Charlton. Sutton Benger, Yatton Keynell,Castle Combe, Dauntsey and Christian Malford. Lea achieved equal 4th place within this group. The Judges comments were " In = fourth place was Lea and Cleverton. The judges noted that St Giles Churchyard was in good good and is regulary maintained in contrast to the nearby telephone box which was tired and forgotten. The Jubilee Playing Fields were in excellent condition and well managed including a children's play area. The pub car park and co-located re-cycling area was tidy and litter free, likewise the Village Hall and the Baptist Chapel. The allotments were excellent and all appeared to be in use with little mess and litter. Notice Boards were tidy and the items displayed were current. The Primary School playgrounds are well cared for and free of litter and debris. We found no dog fouling. The map was particularly useful helping us to find the features of the village".

The Parish Council much appreciates the effort of all the residents of the village who took the time and trouble to keep their frontages, including hedges and grass verges well trimmed and free from litter.
