Please see our Food and Drink Policy for more on food related matters. The children are offered a drink of water or milk and a varied range of snacks such as dried fruit, breadsticks & cheese, mini sandwiches, pitta bread, toast, yogurts, fresh fruit and vegetables and dips.

Tuesday is Lunch Day. The children bring a packed lunch from home in a labelled lunch box and towards the end of the session they sit down together to eat at tables. This activity encourages independence and prepares them for primary school.

Wednesday is music day. The children all take part in a creative music session where they learn about rhythm, beat and tempo and have the chance to develop musical skills.

Thursday is P.E. Day. The children bring in a labelled P.E. kit from home and towards the end of the session they change into their kit and take part in a P.E. class. They then dress themselves again. This activity also promotes independence and prepares them for primary school.

Show and Tell Each child has the opportunity to bring in an item related to the theme of the term and to answer the other children’s questions. This activity promotes confidence in speaking in front of a group. Physical and Outdoor Play The children have the opportunity for daily physical play, often outdoors whenever the weather allows it. Even during the winter the children get their coats and hats on to enjoy the Pre-school garden. Outdoor play provides the opportunity and the space for the children to play, learn and exercise in ways that are not always possible indoors. The children have the chance to build on their physical skills, increasing their strength, control and co-ordination. Outdoor activities include riding tricycles, water play, playing ball games, growing plants, circle games, building dens, observing nature, the seasons and the weather and using the play equipment
